2012 Toyota Yaris European Edition


The carmaker from Japan, Toyota, finally unveiled the first official images of the upcoming 2012 Toyota Yaris European edition. Yet, the five door hatch Yaris, which will have its debut later this year as a 2012 model, will be officially introduced in an expected time close to the debut day. It will be likely to be done at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
The new model styling comes a bit different with its sibling in Japanese Domestic Market (JDM), the Vitz. The new Yaris for European gets some changes to the front fascia. The design is fitted to the current overall paradigm for compact European hatches. The new Toyota Yaris sports have a new design language that it has more angular headlights and more prominent creases in the body. Yet, the overall lines of the new model are not much different from the previous model.
However, the interior has the most noticeable changes got by the new model. It is proven by the instrument cluster that is now placed in front of the driver, replacing the digital instruments with conventional gauges, and the double glove box that is eliminated. In addition, the new model comes with slightly different exterior dimensions. The car will be 100 mm longer and 20 mm lower than its predecessor, as well as the increased wheel base to be 50 mm. The new Yaris also becomes lighter some 30 kilograms making the car have better performance and fuel efficiency and has a 35 mm enhanced rear legroom.
To the powering, which is not much different, Toyota is expected to offer the new Yaris with two gasoline options consisting of a 1.0 liter developing engine that produces 68 HP and a 1.3 liter with an output of 93 HP – the latter employs start-stop function. The all-new Yaris is also likely to be offered in a diesel and a hybrid version yet only starting with 2012. All European-spec models will be possibly offered as standard with a five-speed manual transmission system.
