The Japanese company, Mazda has taken the wraps off its all-new 2012 CX-5 compact crossover ahead of its world debut next month at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show.
The styling is inspired by the Minagi concept vehicle unveiled earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show and the first to feature Mazda’s new “Kodo – Soul of Motion” design language as seen on the previous Shinari concept.
This CX-5 fetures themes of the Kodo design language, which include a prominent new front view with a bolder family face and dynamic styling.
Beside this, the brand-new 2012 Mazda CX-5 will also be the first model to feature Mazda’s new SKYACTIV green technologies encompassing gasoline and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions and body and chassis design. Being the first car which use SKYACTIV eco technologies, its CO2 emissions will be less than 120g/km.
So far, there’s been no word as to which engines will feature in U.S. delivered models but for Europe, the 2012 Mazda CX-5 will come with a SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a SKYACTIV-D 2.2-liter turbodiesel. Both of which will come in standard and high power versions. Expect only the gasoline engines to be offered in the U.S.
